Crystal – 1/20/2015

Location: Crystal, MN

Cost: $1475

Initial Radon Level: 5.4 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.4 pCi/L

Our recent job in Crystal had drain-tile that allowed us to maximize the radon reduction.  Homes that have interior drain-tile create a radon collection area under your whole basement floor.  This large radon collection area draws the maximum amount of radon out of the ground.

The sump basket was sealed and a sight hole added.  A rubber coupler was added to the radon pipe, to allow for disconnecting the pipe if access to the sump basket is needed.

A sealed sump lid with a radon vent pipe and sump pump pipe coming out.

The pipe runs up the basement wall and out into the garage, through the rim joist.

The radon vent pipe enters the garage under the stairs.  The open stairs allowed us to run the pipe underneath and up through the garage.  A fire collar was installed on both ends of the pipe.

The radon fan was installed in the garage attic.  The electrical connection was provided by a licensed electrician.

The radon vent pipe exits the garage roof and a white radon vent pipe was used to match the other plumbing vents.

We were able to complete this project on time and reduce the radon levels.
