Golden Valley – 06/11/2015

Location: Brooklyn Park, MN

Cost: $1675

Initial Radon Level: 6.8 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.2 pCi/L

This home in Golden Valley has a slightly complicated radon mitigation system, since there had been many remodels to the home.  The basement had two different floors and there was no easy way to route the pipe though the home.  The lowest basement floor had a retrofitted drain tile system.  We had to seal the edges of the basement floor to capture all of the radon.  We sealed the sump basket and installed a radon pipe to get the radon out of the ground and outside.

The pipe was attached to the exterior of the home and run above the windows, so that radon would not re-enter the home.  The fan was also mounted on the exterior of the home.  The electrical connection for the radon fan was installed by a licensed electrician.  Once the whole system was completed we did a backdraft test to ensure the water heater was still working properly.
