Savage – 05/27/2015

Location: Savage, MN

Cost: $1475

Initial Radon Level: >4.0 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.2 pCi/L

This single family home had an elevated radon level.  The owners wanted their radon level reduced, so we installed a radon mitigation system.  We sealed their current sump basket, caulked the large cracks in the floor and installed a radon vent pipe.  The radon vent pipe was routed through a first floor closet.

A radon fan was installed in the attic to draw the radon out of the ground, up the radon vent pipe and push the radon outside.  Once the radon is outside it mixes with outdoor air.  A white vent pipe was installed to match the other vents already on the roof.  The electrical connection for the radon fan was installed by a licensed electrician.

Before we left the job we did a back draft test on the water heater to ensure that it was working properly and not venting carbon monoxide into the home.
