Brooklyn Park – 06/01/2015

Location: Brooklyn Park, MN

Cost: $1400

Initial Radon Level: 7.2 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.5 pCi/L

We had to do a lot of sealing to get this radon mitigation system to maximize the radon reduction.  We needed to seal the sump basket and we installed a view port to keep an eye on the water level.

We sealed the joint where the basement block wall and floor meet.  This joint is one of the major entry points for radon to get into your home.  We excavated a large suction pit under the basement floor.  These suction points are the collection point for radon under your home.  A u-tube was installed on the pipe in the basement.  The u-tube is an indicator that the radon fan is still running.

The radon pipe continues into the garage.  A fire collar is installed around the pipe to prevent the spread of fire.  A radon fan was installed in the garage attic.  The electrical connection was installed by a licensed electrician.

A black radon vent was used to match the vents already on the roof.
