Bloomington – 05/05/2015

Location: Bloomington, MN

Cost: $1525

Initial Radon Level: 14.4 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.3 pCi/L

This radon mitigation system brought some challenges, since the home had a retrofitted drain tile system.  These drain systems need to be sealed as much as possible.  The more sealing that can be done, the greater the radon reduction.  Luckily, in this home we had access to the whole basement to ensure we could achieve the maximum radon reduction.

The radon vent pipe is connected to the drain tile system, routed over to a first floor closet and a u-tube was installed in the basement.  The u-tube is an indicator that the radon fan is running.  The pipe continues through a first floor closet, where each shelf was cut to allow the radon pipe to pass through.

The radon fan was connected in the attic and a black radon vent was used to match the other vents on the home.  The electrical connection was provided by a licensed electrician.
