This radon mitigation system had a complicated pipe route and required some creative pipe connections.  The house is a two story brick home with a full basement.

featured2-frontThe suction pit was installed in the unfinished mechanical room.

featured2-suctionpitThe pipe was run through the basement drop ceiling.

featured2-piperouteTo make the connections to run the vent pipe into the first floor an access hole was required.

featured2-knockoutThe access hole was finished with a plastic cover.  Since the vent pipe is a permanent part of your home this hole can also be repaired with sheetrock and finished to look like the ceiling.

featured2-knockoutcoverOn the main floor the pipe was hidden inside the mud room cabinet before exiting to the garage.

featured2-cabinetThe pipe continued in the garage.  The u-tube was added in the garage so that system performance can be easily monitored.  Fire collars were added on the firewalls to ensure that if there is a fire, it does not spread through the holes created by the radon vent pipe.

featured2-garageThe radon fan was installed in the garage attic.  The electrical connection was created by a licensed electrician.

featured2-radonfanSince this home has wood shingles and black plumbing vents, a metal roof boot and black radon vent was installed.

featured2-radonventThe finishing touch of the system was to seal the sump basket.
