Minnetonka – 03/24/2015

Location: Minnetonka, MN

Cost: $1725

Initial Radon Level: 5.5 pCi/L

Post Mitigation Radon Level: 0.5 pCi/L

We will be very happy once the snow is all gone and it makes it easier to work on roofs.  This home had drain tile that enables our radon mitigation system to be effective and efficient.  We installed a sealed sump basket lid with a  view port.  The view port allows you to see the water level in the basket and reset the pump if needed.

The suction pit was connected directly to the drain tile so that the maximum amount of radon is removed from the soil.  The radon pipe goes up the basement wall and out into the garage.

In the garage the pipe continues into the garage attic.  Fire collars are installed on both ends of the pipe to ensure that if there ever is a garage fire it will stay contained in the garage.

The radon fan is located in the garage attic and the electrical connection was supplied by a licensed electrician.  Not only is it required by code for the electrical connection be supplied by a licensed electrician, it gives us peace of mind to know it is always done right.  A black radon vent was installed to match the plumbing vents.
